Correct name: Navy of Faithful (HH2). --dotz 18:43, 11 September 2008 (UTC)

Navy of the Faithful, I think. But there is the question if that really is the official name - the Masadans obviously have the habit of calling anything ( even themselves ) "of the Faithful" or "the Faithful" or something like that... -- SaganamiFan 20:21, 11 September 2008 (UTC)
Where I am actually at, Grayson and Manticore call it the Navy of Masada, but the Masadans haven't really referred to their navy as the Navy of the Faithful, yet. --Farragut79 22:47, 11 September 2008 (UTC)
Problem needs more research in all Honorverse books, however (talking about methods):
  • the main source is HH2 with Weber's description,
  • Promised land is just supplementary thing,
  • non-Masadan characters statements could be not exact (even if they were of Grayson origin).
Well, Weber in HH2 gave as an inconsistency or equation between names: "Navy of Masada" (chapter 4, Yu described) and "Navy of the Faithful" (chapter 24, Theissman's entry). Equation - because there is just one quotation against one quotation (real surprise for me when I checked it). However small bias in favour of second name are Masadan naval ranks.
Problem origins very likely from organization of the theocratic Masadan state - church was probably considered as the same thing as the state (as far as I remember "Masadans" in HH2 didn't call their state "Masada"/on geografic way, but they refered it as "Church..." or "Faithful of the Church..."/on the way connected with organization). So for today the name of their Navy: "Navy of Masada" is probably as correct as the name "Navy of the Faithful" (second one more ideologically biased). It is a pity we have no acces to Manticoran Admiralty archive with its original Masadan navy files, accuired after conquest of Endicot and establishing protectorate there.--dotz 05:38, 12 September 2008 (UTC)

Separate sections would be helpful for:

  • privater vessels (PL),
  • support from Peeps (refits mentioned in PL, treaty resulting with obtaining two moderate units in HH2)

MNS[]

MNS for Masadan Navy Ship? - Does the source of it is a book? (the name of the navy was Navy of Masada, so more correct could be NMS).--dotz 21:38, 2 May 2009 (UTC)

Jayne's Haven book describes the MNS Thunder of God. --Farragut79 20:21, 3 May 2009 (UTC)
