Solomon Hayes was a Manticoran citizen and a popular journalist.
Working as a columnist for the Landing Tattler, writing Tattler's Tidbits, he originally broke the story alleging an improper relationship between Honor Harrington and Hamish Alexander. Later, he also broke the one about their upcoming children. (HH10,HH11)
One of his main informants was Elfrieda VanGuyles, Countess Fairburn.
After Stacey Hauptman had bought the Tattler, the new management discovered "irregularities" in Hayes' financial records and fired him. He was last reported as discussing those irregularities with the Landing City Police Department and the Lord of the Exchequer. (HH11)
