Andre Warnecke and his men, after being forced out of the Chalice, occupied it. He mounted a local reign of terror, and organized widespread piracy operations throughout the Silesian Confederacy. When Honor Harrington of the Royal Manticoran Navy learned of the operation and Warnecke's location, she moved against him and his supporters. She and her Q-ship Wayfarer captured Warnecke, destroyed his operations and left a small force to cope with stragglers. She turned Warnecke over to the reconstituted Sidemore authorities in part because they had a death penalty.
Harrington recommended that the Star Kingdom of Manticore establish a fleet base at Sidemore, since it was close to but not part of the Silesian Confederacy, and on the side nearest the Andermani Empire, with whom tensions had been rising. (HH6)
At the beginning of the Second Havenite-Manticoran War, Sidemore was the site of one of the opening engagements, between a RHN fleet led by Admiral Lester Tourville and the Sidemore Station RMN contingent, led by Admiral Honor Harrington, together with the Protector's Own Squadron, assigned by Protector Benjamin IX to Sidemore for an extended patrol in support of the station and Harrington, the Protector's Own's permanent commander. This battle went down in history as the Second Battle of Marsh. (HH10)
