The Raid on Des Moines was a military action of the Second Havenite-Manticoran War between a task force of the Royal Manticoran Navy's Eighth Fleet and the Destroyer Squadron 93 of the Republic of Haven Navy, when the Des Moines System was selected for a deep raid by the RMN as part of Operation Cutworm II.

Shortly after the arrival of RMN forces in system in overwhelming superiority, Governor Arnold Bruckheimer contacted acting Commodore Arakel Hovanian and ordered him to withdraw the three destroyers in his command as employing them against such numerically superior odds would only lead to the needless destruction of his command and the deaths of his personnel.
