Q was the nickname and informal designation for the position of covert operative supply officer. The meaning and origin of the term was forgotten[1], but operatives were known to have recreated meanings depending on the personality of the supply officer they were dealing with.

Around 1914 PD, the Q for the Royal Manticoran Navy Office of Naval Intelligence Covert Insertion Team was a severely overweight man with vaguely frog-like features and a collection of questionable and possibly illegal images. John Mullins and Charles Gonzalvez, two members of the CIT used those files to blackmail Q into providing them with supplies for their unauthorized vacation on Prague.
