Napoleon I

Napoléon in 1812 CE

Napoléon Bonaparte, also known as Emperor Napoléon I of France, was a political and military leader on Earth in the late 18th and early 19th Century CE.

Born in a noble Corsican family, he trained as an officer in mainland France and became important under the First Republic. He led successful campaigns, and in 1799 CE staged a coup d'état. The French invasion of Russia in 1812 began a turning point in Napoléon's fortunes. In 1813 CE, the Sixth Coalition defeated his forces time and again, and eventually exiled Napoléon to the island of Elba. Less than a year later, he escaped Elba and became powerful again. However, he was defeated at the Battle of Waterloo in June 1815 CE. He spent the last six years of his life confined by the British on the island of Saint Helena before dying of stomach cancer, although some have suggested that he was poisoned with arsenic.
