The Manticore Progressive Party was one of the six main political parties of the Star Kingdom of Manticore.

Policies Edit

Most Progressives shared the Centrist Party's fiscal conservatism, but were more concerned with domestic politics than foreign affairs. This resulted in a rather ambiguous and simple foreign policy. Concerning the People's Republic of Haven's expansion, they preferred a rather isolationist or appeasement-oriented approach. (HH1)

They wanted a better balance between social programs and military spending. They tended to share the Liberals' views on domestic issues, with their unwillingness to accept deficit spending as one notable exception. They thought of Haven as what happens when liberal deficit-spending gets out of control combined with political corruption. Unlike the Liberals, they did not considers fears over Haven's military ambitions to be alarmist, and they feared confrontation with Haven would lead to defeat. (UHH)

History Edit

In 260 AL, the Progressives were against the annexation of the Basilisk System for fear of a confrontation with Haven.^[1]

In 1900 PD, the Progressive Party was known as even less helpful towards foreign policy than the Manticore Liberal Party, according to then-Havenite Secretary for Foreign Affairs Ronald Bergren. (HH1)

In 1903 PD, the MPP still did not believe war with the People's Republic of Haven was imminent. (HH2)

Around 1905 PD, Earl Gray Hill and Lady Elaine Descroix had become leaders within the Party.

The assassination of Prime Minister Allen Summervale, Duke of Cromarty, in 1915 PD resulted in the formation of a new government by the Conservative Association, Liberals and Progressives that agreed to a truce offered by Oscar Saint-Just. (HH9)

After the resignation of Baron High Ridge, the Progressives were removed from the government. (HH10)
