The First Battle of Seabring was fought between the Royal Manticoran Navy and the People's Navy, led by Rear Admiral Thomas Theisman.

Prelude[]

In the push to take Trevor's Star System, the Royal Manticoran Navy attacked Rear Admiral Theisman's forces in the Seabring System.

Prior to the battle, Ensign Jennifer O'Brien had strongly dissented from the enemy forces appreciation of her commander, Admiral White Haven's intelligence officer, who had been sent to lead the assault. (HH8)

Order of battle[]

RMN[]

A task force of the Sixth Fleet composed with a dreadnought wall of battle, unknown screen.

PN[]

Seabring System Defence[1]:

  • wall of battle (BB)[2]
  • a battlecruiser element

Course of battle[]

Although nearly his entire command was destroyed, despite being vastly outnumbered, and despite the remaining ships being so heavily damaged they were sent to the breakers following the battle[3], Theisman managed to force the Manticoran units to withdraw. (HH7)

The reason Admiral Theisman took such losses was that he couldn't stay outside the energy envelope and missile pods envelope on his way in to his own engagement range. (infodump)

Aftermath[]

Due to his victory, Theisman was promoted to command the DuQuesne Base in the Barnett System. His successor lost the system to Manticoran forces in the Second Battle of Seabring.

When forming Eighth Fleet, Admiral White Haven specifically requested then Lieutenant (SG) O'Brien to be his fleet intelligence officer.[4] (HH8)
