Chief Elder

The Chief Elder was the head of the government of Masad called the Council of Elders as well as head of the Masadan state. His full title was: Chief Elder of the Faithful of the Church of Humanity Unchained. (HH2)

The Chief Elder served until he died, retired, or was deposed. Thomas Simonds, the Chief Elder in 1903 PD, was a descendant of Steadholder Simonds, one of the leaders of the Faithful in the Grayson Civil War. There were no formal succession procedures concerning Chief Elder position. Order of succession was based on authority rather, so it was possible to replace one prospective succesor by another^[1].
