The battleship (BB) was a type of warship considered obsolescent by most Post Diaspora space forces by the start of the First Havenite-Manticoran War.

HistoryEdit

Larger than battlecruisers, massing between two and four million tons, the battleship occupied an uneasy space between better armed and armored dreadnoughts and faster, cheaper battlecruisers. Ton-for-ton, a larger ship-of-the-wall was more deadly than a battleship due to sturdier construction techniques and higher portional tonnage that could be devoted to weapons. Because of that, few major naval power built battleships. However some star systems, such as the People's Republic of Haven, maintained battleships as rear area defenses. (HH4)
